The national lockdown has affected industries across the board. With sales in all industries dropping to record lows, commission earners are one of the hardest hit over this time. The real estate sector, in particular, has seen some of the lowest sales figures in years owing to the Deeds Office closure and not being cleared to operate under alert level 5 and 4 of lockdown.

Despite these challenging market conditions, the agent growth rate at South Africa’s largest real estate brand, RE/MAX, is the greatest it has been in four years, which has led the real estate giant to reach a milestone number of 2500 real estate practitioners within its network. This achievement happens to coincide with the brand’s 25th anniversary in the region and brings the group closer to its goal of gaining a 25% national market share by 2025.

“We have grown by 89 agents since May 2019, 40 of which joined since January this year. Now more than ever, the backing of a well-established brand becomes invaluable to agents who are struggling to make ends meet during lockdown. While our competitors are threatening layoffs, our brand has fortunately been growing stronger. We owe this growth to all our Broker/Owners for their incredible recruiting efforts and to our Outstanding Agents that showcase our brand through their Outstanding Results. We would not have been able to reach this milestone without the incredible people who make up our brand,” says Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, Adrian Goslett.

The real estate giant already has one of the largest footprints in Southern Africa, with over 165 offices and operating in 5 countries in the region. And this most recent win caught the attention of RE/MAX Holdings CEO, Adam Contos, who sent the region a video message to congratulate them on their success.

“I want to send out a heartfelt congratulations of hitting the milestone of 2500+ agents in your network. This is a phenomenal achievement and especially during this world pandemic and the constant challenges you’ve faced in your homeland of South Africa. Your leadership and vision has no boundaries and has shown that you are truly unique in what you offer and bring to your entire network of brokers and agents. We are so proud of you here in Denver as you continue to be a success story like no other for RE/MAX around the world,” says Contos.

For those who are curious to learn more about joining South Africa’s largest brand in real estate, RE/MAX SA has recently launched a YouTube series designed to provide recruits with an insight into the brand, its values, goals, history and resources.
